Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels (Xbox One Review)

Jari Välimäki

Hot Wheels

Hot wheels came out in 1968.. yes that’s a bit over 48 years ago…

I played with Hot Wheels when I was younger, and over the years numerous Hot Wheels based games..
But now, in May 2017 Hot Wheels landed in the Forza Horizon 3 universe… and what can I say, I’m so excited about this addon.

And yes that excitement is not in vain, I’m going to jump to a line from my conclusion straight up and say… yes! this is what DLC is all about.

Forza Horizon 3 was launched late last year 2016, and received fantastic reviews from fans around the globe… the game features a massive map
with alot to do from Drifting, Speeding, Racing and general Horizon madness with Great music tracks.
The Hot Wheels DLC continues on that madness, with it’s add on of orange tracks to a separate map piece set within Australia called Thrilltopia.

Gameplay

The Hot Wheels addon carries on from the fantastic Forza Horizon 3 gameplay, and introduces new challenges for both Single Player and Online Multiplayer for the player.
There is a total of 28 new races within different classes (A , S1 and S2 cars) and a ton of new drift, speed trap and speed zone areas, and danger signs.
All this is building up for the last Goliath race..

There is also 1 new barn find, and 5 new bucket list items created for you to conquer.

With an additional 500 Goldscore for you achievement hunters in this addon bringing the total up to 2000 Goldscore counting the base game and the Blizzard Mountain Expansion.

What you can expect is alot of loops, corkscrews, boost pads, high bank turns, half-pipes, insane jumps – and even mechanical dinosaurs… yes you read that last one
correct.. Dinosaurs! … and ofcourse mad speeds! .. there is a total of 11 new cars added and they are absolutely fantastic looking. Can you tame them?

As in Forza Horizon 3 all the cars have their unique handling, personality… this continues as well in the Hot Wheels DLC, the new cars feel fantastic once you tame them..

Conclusion

I can’t remember when I had this much fun playing a DLC the last time, the sheer size of Thrilltopia in this DLC with the cars bringing you hours of fun..

Not to mention the hours of fun to be had on multiplayer ontop of that..

This is how you do DLC to an already excellent base game. Kudos Playground, Kudos and thank you!
